It's Awesome! I've always thought that that the Stromung unit had the best looking tips, especially with the perforated look on the inside. It's great that they are finally offering a Stainless unit.. I'm sure it's much improved over the old one.

I used to have the non-stainless unit on my car and I used to get compliments on the tips from even non-car enthusiasts... and MAN would it sing! It's a great sounding exhaust, especially down low, but no slouch high up in the revs either. Very little 3.5k rpm resonance which made it a pleasure to drive around town.

Only problem?? It lasted ~30K miles till it was almost completely perforated. As it got more messed up, it got louder and louder.. I thought eh, as long as it stays on the car.. i'll keep it until the next smog test. Well, one of Los Altos's, CA most finest thougtht otherwise. He pulled me over and after much debate..about DB readings, and harley davidsons, and don't you have anything better to do than pulling me over for that shit!--the ending statement from the copper: "Son, if you don't want any more trouble than a fixit ticket, I suggest you keep your mouth shut!" Who was I to argue!!! =D

So, since my buddy Brandon B. had a Borla on his car, and I liked the way it sounded, and it was the cheapest of the 3 I was considering.. I went for it. It took more work than expected to fit it on there.. some blow torch heating and bending of the pipes.. but I'm not sure whether that was Borla or whether the PO had made some previous bends to the pipes.

Well I finally got the Borla on and I'm extremely satisfied with the sound.. not too loud, not too quite.. just perfect. I still do envy your tips though.. they're PERFECT... much nicer than the Borla unit.

So I took my newly installed Borla to the Los Altos Sherif's office to get sign off on the fixit ticket. I was a bit worried, as the Borla is not exactly quiet. I walk up to the desk and the receptionist calls this old desk cop over.. I'm like, oh oh.. doesn't look good. He comes outside tells me to turn on the car and rev it... I do so, hitting about 4 RPM on the throttle blip. His response: "Sounds GOOD! It's not stock huh?, Ya, if I had to replace my exhaust I wouldn't put a stock unit on it either." I'm shocked.. pleasantly of course. As he signs my ticket, he says "Son, make a photo copy of this ticket with my signature.. if anyone gives you any problems, you show em this!" I say "Thank you" in the sincerest possible tone, shake the man's hand, and put away the paper. As I'm walking away, he says "That's nice car you got there, son. Don't see many of that Model M3 around.. " He smiles and I smile and we walk off. I'm in an altered state.. did this just happen? Was this the nicest Cop I've ever met and I'm ever going to meet?? ehehhe.. I guess so.. I don't wait too long for him to change his mind and quickly drive of. =D

Wew.. Jon, I was just going to compliment you on your exhaust, but I guess I've said more than my share. Anyway.. looks like you've made a great purchase! Enjoy!

I just snapped a few pics of my very dirty Stromung exhaust (it's been raining :\) It's an all stainless, straight-through design...pretty light but not as light as Borla...MUCH lighter than stock. It has a very deep sound at idle and screams pretty well up high.
