Checking valve clearances is pretty simple. The factory spec is .011 to .013 inches, but Don Fields sets them at .010 to .012 inches. I checked mine last year (I have a little tapping) and I had two that were .014 inches. I`ve ordered the depressor tool to do it myself. The shims are $5 each.

it was about 1k just to fix the problem.. I looked at all timing parts and they seemed to be in good condition so they stayed.. Yet know after all this work I have some serious valve taping.. so that is waht needs to get done next..
