There are some E30 323i's around which are grey market cars. They're nice in that they have the smaller euro bumpers (unless converted to US). If your looking at the one on eBay, I'd stay away. I'm leary of anyone trying to pass this off as an M-car which it is not. It's an E30 323i automatic (definately not M car material) with decals and an M3 style wing. Personally don't like the wheels. Also don't think it's worth the starting bid of $3000 with 130k miles on it.

A better description would be "M Technic". I have a story which may clarify things. In 1994, soon after I got an 84 318i, I answered an ad selling parts from a wrecked 1984 "M318i". What the guy had was a stock 318i, save for the spoilers and sport seats. I bought the tranny and diff as spares (lower miles than mine) and came home. I started thinking about those spoilers (having never seen any quite like them) and went back for a second look. I ended up buying the front one. It`s very similar to the one on the "M323i". It`s definitely German (Pfeba is the brand) and was painted white, just like the car. The paint appeared to be the same age as the car. The rear spoiler was body color as well. Although it was not M3 style, it had small sections on each end which were attached to the quarter panels. I don`t think the "M318i" was a grey market car because it had U.S. bumpers, but I`m convinced it was sold that way. I think it was a promotional thing to drum up interest in the upcoming M5, M6 and M3.
