It is true that an S52 may be 50 lbs heavier, but that weight imbalance ban be erased by removing items such as the AC compressor, condensor and evaporator.

Or by using a Z3 aluminum block and M3 crank and pistons/head, you will end up with an engine lighter than the S14.

BTW This is exactly my next project: an aluminum block in my 1983 e30 Hartge H23 which weights only 2400lbs in stock form.
