If I can racall, wasn't he selling it FIRST because it didn't pass the smog test?, now his Dad doesn't like the buzzy feeling.. Just my thoughts...

You have lots of good parts in there. The spare interior is worth $800, Schrick cam is $600, etc, etc. If the damage was fixed WELL and properly rust-proofed, then there should be no trouble.

Compression and leakdown tests will show the condition of the engine. Over 160psi all 4 cylinders, no more than 10% difference among the 4, and less than 10% leakdown are very good numbers. Over 15% leakdown is getting close to rebuild time.
