I will remove the washer fluid system and use a carbon fiber hood for a weight reduction of 50lbs in the front,in order to maintain the balance of the car

There has been a lot of talk about balance/weight concerns with engine swaps on boards lately so I thought I'd post my findings.
using 1KG = 2.205lbs and kg weights found in ETK...
S14 weighs 110.0kg - 242.55lbs
M20 weighs 115.0kg - 253.58lbs
M50 weighs 132.0kg - 291.06lbs
M52 weighs 120.5kg - 265.70lbs (aluminum block)

I'm still researching to make sure this is correct. Was wondering if any of you have different figures.

I plan to drop one of these motors into my e30 m3 this winter.

Surprisingly the S38 is lighter than the S50! I'll have to research this as well. Maybe the numbers are switched around. I will double check tonight. I would think the S38 weighed more.

S38 149,0 M5 E28 - 328.55lbs
S50 155,4 M3 E36 - 342.66lbs

Either way, both engines weigh considerably more than the S14. There's a lot of reasons why BMW M used a 16valve 4 banger for the M3.
