I am looking at a possible engine rebuilt, as you guys know had a rod barring spinning. I want to know what parts to order and who I should have rebuilt the engine. I have a friend that rebuilds engines. Hondas, and American cars. He is really good, but this engine is anything but normal. I want to know if someone knows how to rebuilt engines can they do the S14 engine or not. Is it really “special” or once the engine is opened up it is easy to figure out? Are there any parts that would look ok but I would have to change, like the head bolts and what not. Thanks Guys

I just got an engine with blown headgasket for $500.00 and decide to rebuild it myself(i am a mechanic, not automobil but airplane) once i took the engine appart and did the measurement found the head warped, well took it to place to get it done i got exhaust valve and valve seal myself (exhaust valve $51.00 each) they provided the valve guide, the labor plus guide cost me$580.00, to check the crankshaft $40.00 within limits, to clean the block $40.00 Head gasket set $170.00,bottom gasket set $49.00, oil pump $150.00 oil pump chain $5.00, Main bearings $40.00. This is only a partial list of some of things that i have done so far still a lot more to come like piston ring very expensive, rod bearing, water pump, timing chain and components this job will probably cost me around $2000.00 this is not including my time and labor.

Hope this will give you an idea. Mike No M3, but just the engine
