But rather the huge expenses involved and relative lack of qualified tuners/installers of these systems. For example, if Alpha-N didn't cost thousands of dollars and if knowledgeable people weren't hard to find, I'm sure more folks would look to that as a viable solution to alternative engine management. I know I'd love to use it.

It is a real shame that the majority of e30 M3 enthusiasts are afraid to veer away from Conforti approved modifications.

I don't think S14's are that taboo. It's still a 16 valve DOHC, I4. There are other systems that one can use like Eletromotive TECII, TEC III, Haltech, etc as an alternative to the Motronic 3.1.
