on my E28. After I got the 4 top bolts on and tighted them with a wrench, I completely lowered the jack that was supporting the diff. The diff which at this point is only bolted to the subframe rotates itself downward around the subframe axis, creating additional space at the top of the diff. Using a 3/8" torque wrench and a shallow socket I was able to get to the bolt head. Let me know if this works on the e30, I have one too.
