are two different designs of Bosch. The OE M3 ($75 & $22) had a spring contact to the rotor. The expensive upgrade has a pin that inserts into a larger hole in the rotor, creating a spark gap. The upgrade is supposed to have a much lower incidence of exploding rotors at high rpm. I`m running Bremi ($60 & $20 from BMP) which seems to have a heavier duty rotor than even the upgraded Bosch.
Eric, I just did these last week- The Bosch dist. cap p/n= 03215 & rotor p/n 04187 (off the 740 turbo OR 240 w/ B230 engine)- go to alocal parts place & give them the Bosch #'s. The cap was $32 & the rotor was $17.81. Pretty decent compared to the OEM prices of $186.51 & $92.83 (ouch)-
