I have installed Eibachs in my car without changing the shocks, performane AND ride is a bit better than stock and it looks just very slightly lower. Although Im sure performance would be a bit better with bilstein sports, I dont think you would notice it unless you were pushing the car at the track or something. I personally think for normal to fast road driving, the stock shocks would do fine.

The eibachs only lower the car less than an inch in front and back, and spring rate is very close to stock. However I would change shocks if I were installing H&Rs (or other brands) that lower the car about 1.5" or more and with stiffer rates.

Maybe you can install the eibachs with stock shocks and see if you find them adequate or not before you upgrade to bilsteins.

Just my suggestion.
