The spring loaded center rotor was discontinued by BMW ages ago. You are running on a model of part, even from Bosch, that BMW removed from the engine after '88 I believe.

Now you can use the Volvo engine shims and tool for valve adjustments and save some $ but most of what you are attempting to do is useless.

BTW, you always replace the cap & rotor as a pair. Never use a used part w/ a new one when it comes to this.
