Let's say I haven't holed the block or done anything bad -- just rings, bearings and a nice valve job. And new timing components, of course.

Everybody out there is building 2.5s, but nobody seems to have a ballpark figure for a nicely done 2.3 rebuild.

Any ideas appreciated, as I have been thinking that if I keep my M3 for any length of time, I might take it off the road and have the motor freshened.

Bill

I am in the process of doing mine so far $1500.00 on parts alone, new valves, piston ring, valves guide, main bearings, conrad bearings, timing belt and all componenents, flywheel(old one broken tooth), oil pump and $500.00 for redoing the head, $40.00 for block and $40.00 to measure the crankshaft, labor i am doing myself, i would say $2300.00 on parts plus labor unless you do it yourself.

Mike no M3, just an engine
