I have never heard of such a thing. You must live in communist China or something because a law allowing only factory replacement parts anything goes directly against free enterprise, competition, and the capitalist system, not to mention the useless and arbitrary restriction of personal choice.
You might want to double check the "law." I think Officer Jackass was just writing you a ticket that he hoped you wouldn't contest. That's what happened in my case anyway.
i'll get my sound decible meter out and test how loud the car is. BTW, my car is VERY loud, the loudest M3 i've heard.
anybody fire up there car w/ only the headers? i haven't measured, but i'm guessing about 10db less than that!
I've seen probably 50 E30 M3's, stock 2.3L, modded 2.3L, 2.5L and none of them have been as loud as mine.
where should i measure from? i'm going to measure from behind the car, directly behind the muffler, 45 deg off from it, and probably 5 feet away from it. i'm also going to measue from inside the car in the drivers seat.
I'm thinking of taking measurements at idle, a blip of the throttle, at 2500rpm, 5000rpm 10000rpm (just kidding) then while inside the cabin do the same and also at 60mph, 80mph.
i'm also thinking of taking a vid/audio of the testing, just to validate it's my car.
oh btw, i can set car alarms off by just starting the car! also i can make the windows at taco bell shake violently when i rev right next to them in the drive thru (the sound bounces of the wall and makes it sound awsome)
ok, i'm rambling now
