Th PO of my S14 (in an '02) started using Mobil Delvac1 at 20k miles. The motor now has 35k miles on it, and shows no signs of trouble. No smoke, plugs are a lovely brown even at the end of their useful lives, and I've never had to add oil between changes every 3k or so miles.

Delvac1 synthetic (not to be confused with Delvac 1300 - dino oil) is the industrial grade of Mobil1. Before I bought the car, I called Mobil about this and they heartily recommended its use for high performance motors over Mobil1. My brother uses the same oil in his Kenworth's 500 Cat, and the jug's (gallons only, no quarts) label specifies its use for both diesel and gas motors.

According to Mobil's website (see faq's in url below):
"Delvac 1 is an excellent gasoline engine oil. Delvac 1 meets the API SJ service classification, which covers most gasoline automobile engines."

The punchline is that Delvac1 is less expensive than Mobil1, though it's only avaiable from Mobil distributors and truck stops - but I've heard some Walmarts carry it.
