From what I know, synthetic + M3 = fine. 15w50 Mobil one is what I hear others recommend, but within reason anything is fine. I`m currently running with water, well near enough anyway and all seems well.

In 1987 BMW recommended mineral 10w40 in europe. But bare in mind the stuff we have around today wasnt around back then, so who knows what is ultimately the best for an S14.
