Thats what I`m running using a stock S14 tensioner and the car starts fine as long as I de-clutch when turning the ignition off but Ive always done that to ensure no startup noise.
Castrol SLX 0w30 is the stuff im using which here in the UK is more expensive than Mobil 1 - yikes.

The stock chain tensioner is very sensitive to thin oils as it operates on oil pressure. That is probably why the article said that. If you switch over to the E36 M3 3.2l tensioner you will not have this problem, even with 0W-30 synthetic (which is what I run). Synthetic oils will offer superior protection over petrol oils...

Anybody have any views on using Mobil 1 Motorsport in the S14?
I've seen quite a lot of stuff about not using regular Mobil 1 (as it's too thin) but I recently read an article that said S14's don't like synthetic oil of any description.
Anyone like to clarify this for me so I can sell the Mobil 1 Motorsport to my mate with the Cossie if need be.
