180 to 200 is normal for a good S-14 motor , 145 -155 is a bad motor (these motors are 10.5 to 1 compression stock )so the compression should be higher than 145-155 range . 220 is rather high unless the compression ratio has been raised (11.5 to 1 or higher pistons)that or the compression gauge read incorrectly cheap gauges are all out of calibration
Art Glenn's M3 page
says 145 - 155 psi +/- 7 psi....but mine was 220 in all four cylinders, what does this
mean???  Is it bad that it is higher than the norm?

Anyone know what the compression should be on a stock e30 m3? What is it to low? In PSI or kg/cm.
