235/40/17 ET 20-30 is a good option if you don't wanna roll your fender lips--though they might rub at full lock.

I've seen 245/45/17 on a 2.6L Dinan car with rolled fender lips and modified arches.

What is the largest tire size (brand of tire also) that will fit a stock suspension and body on a 8 X 17 rim?
