Check the microswitches, there are a number of them around the roof mechanism that check that everything is in place before switching the next operation.
There is a hidden one! This is where you unclip the roof, the switch makes sure that it has been unclipped.
Depending on what type of roof it is, there should be 2 fuses in the boot and upto 4 relays. Give me a mail if you have any further problems, I have had the two different types of roof and they can be a pain if they go wrong.
