In Reply to: Best OIL GRADE & Type for e30 M3's???? posted by Dan on February 19, 2002 at 16:39:34:

FWIW Castrol does not even refine base stocks let alone finished automotive grade oils.

The conventional oil is purchased overstock etc. from othere refiners and then combined to create a blend for sale.

You can actually find ash deposits i the bottom of their 1 gallon jugs etc.PLease use a real oil OK?

THe SYNTECH is crap too. Again not made by Castrol just a mix of leftovers.

AMSOIL or REdline are the best synthetics avalable. Mobil 1 is a second tier oil but suitable for a street engine but questionable for hard race applications unless you drain frequently.
