Intersesting. I have a 2002 with an e30 M3 engine installed, using 02 turbo radiator. I've plumbed the cooling system exactly like the M3 and have the same symptom.

I just had the same problem. First I checked the thermostat in boiling water to see if would open. Then bleed the coolant system. I have an e30, 325is and you can can bleed the system from the top of the thermostat housing.
