How do I tighten the tie rod nut with out the shaft moving,
the old ones came off fine, can't get these new suckers on.

I haven't done this a while now but isn't here a couple a parallel "flats" just below the thread that you can get a thin wrench in to hold it while you tighten the nut. Try the wrenches in your car tool kit. Use new lock nuts.
