I haven't done this a while now but isn't here a couple a parallel "flats" just below the thread that you can get a thin wrench in to hold it while you tighten the nut. Try the wrenches in your car tool kit. Use new lock nuts.

I just took a look and some don't have the flats so use the jack or clean the taper and tap it in all the way the taper should hold it so that you can tighten.
