Yes that was one of the options . It was 4-door M3, the last ones produced still exist as a Police car in the very southern part of Germany. A Touring(Estate) was also considered. M Gmbh DID in fact produce one M3 Compact, imagine the 150 kilogrammes lighter shell with a 3,2 heart.
