Leather goes bad from dirt and oil being rubbed in. With the wheel, you have two options. Wear gloves and hardly clean it, or clean it often. Just don't condition it or add any silicon based products. It will make the surface slick, which is not what you want from your steering wheel.

Recently I got the Evo steering wheel for my e30 M. Since this is a BRAND new wheel I want to preserve the leather on it. I was wondering what steps should I take on taking care of it? Is just an occasional Lexol treatment enough?
