Some swaybar kits come with triangular pieces of steel that match the tabs on the trailing arms. These just weld on.
It is probably a good idea to weld an extra piece from the end of this tab to the bottom of the control arm, to create a truss. I know that Dinan includes a piece of steel for this to be done on their M roadster swaybar package.
The heat concern is so you don't mess your brake line up on thd driver's side. It's probably a good idea to remove it completely during welding.
