well they do that because....well its an ///M car and that means Money. So they try to determine how rich you are and how much they think you are willing to pay before setting the price :).

Seriously, I have only had one quick chat with them on the phone. It was concerning an inspection 2 and because it wasn`t cheap enough to make it worth while I didn`t bother. Oh, and they also said they might need the car for more than one day which was not a good thing because I`m not local.
I know my local BMW dealers well and they are just a 5minute walk down the road so I didnt mind paying the extra 100 quid there to get the work done with people I knew I could trust.
I think Munich wanted about 320 for the service if I remember correctly, and this wasback in Aug 2000

out of Munich Legends?
Every time I contact them for a price for parts or work it's always 'it's about' or 'all depends'.
Recently I visited and asked how much an Inspection 2 would be, Barneys response was "all depends how many shims I have to use for the valves".
This is not the first time Munichs have been unsure of prices, once they increased the price of the plug leads I was going to buy by 50 just before I went to collect them!(I went to Moseleys instead).
Any other specialist garage just give you a price, I don't want to take my car to a garage with a rough idea what I'm going to pay when it is only one task I am asking them to perform.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not having a go at the quality of their work, just the vague info they give.
Sorry for the outburst, and I know that lots of you use Munichs with no problem but I just needed to get that off my chest.
PaulD, how much do you pay Munichs for an inspection 2?

320 sounds about right, and if you can get a BMW dealer to do it for 420 they must be cheap round your area, the last time I went to my local one it was 520 and that was when their labour charge was 60/hr they now charge 75/hr, so it must cost about 600 now.

They were nice enough to include in the price them taking my car for a 50 mile test drive.
