Thanks john, thats whay I figured but adjusting base idle screw seems to make little or no difference.Thing is it is running so sweet I might leave it until it goes in for a remap in a couple of weeks jon 90m3
...the mounting screws and rotate the TPS until the switch closes (zero ohms). Tighten the screws.
Once you`re sure the switch is working, hook up a digital tachometer. The tach on the instrument cluster is not reliable for determining idle speed. The base idle screw is a large slotted screw above the cam cover on the throttle body. Adjust to 880 RPM.

88 ///M3 CinnabarHaving recently bought a 90 m3,I have decided to tackle its fluctuating tickover.I have replaced:manifold gaskets, plenum o rings, all hoses including breather pipes, cleaned and checked ICV.I found that the TPS was not showing any voltage at full throttle so this has also been replaced.the car know has a beatiful even tick over except it is at 1000 rpm.I think I need to reset TPS and base idle but not sure of the proccess, many thanks.
