I got them from Tire Rack,225/45/15 not shaved or heat cycled. I did the
heat cycling my self. =-)
I drove to the track with them on the car, yea it is bad, it was raining the
day before and I was to lazy to change them. They were scrubbed in the
weekend before. I pumped them up to 40psi (to wear the middle) for the drive
to the track 20mi.
On the track I put them at 35psi all round cold. You may think it was to
high, but I found it to be perfect. My car it TOTALLY neutral!
They warm up REAL quick. This let me to believe they would not last the day.
There was also a TON of grip, a lot more then the Yoko's I've run for years.
I was driving the car so hard and they NEVER got loose, I got them to 4wheel
drift around turn 2 all day long! There was also no squawk from them and I
have yet to see the limits of the tires. Well, last session it was raining,
and I got real loose around turn 6's little dip. That was my fault with to
much throttle. They did come right back in line after reducing throttle. I
also liked the smaller tire size, it really helped me POWER out of the
turns. My clutch was slipping at WOT, so I needed everything I can get out
of it.
The ware seams ok, the front passenger tire looks the worst. The other 3
look almost new. I can take pics if requested.
On a dry track these are the BEST tires in this price range! I also think
they would make a great Auto-x tire because they warm up so quick. Hopefully
I can get 5-6 track days out of them.
So, if you want great grip in a 15in tire, and are cheep like me, get the
Kumo's you will be happy with them!
On a side note.... This is also the first time on my GC suspension 3deg f/r
camber. I also added a set of Recaro SRD seats and Sparco Harness. So that
could be part of the reason for me being so fast!
