Lots of e36 325's out there for $7500.. (I didn't say M3's) Talk about bullet proof!!!! Your suggestions are good, but I just feel once you drive a BMW (especially an M3) it's hard to drive a Jap car and be satisfied. Could even buy a real nice e30 325, or 318is. Lots of fun for the money.
