The reason for asking this question is that I have heard from my BMW dealer that the kind of oil to be used in the gearbox can be seen on the inlet bolt. If it is an ordinary hex bolt it shall be a type ATF Dextron III oil and if it is a socket head cap screw it shall be an type API GL 4 oil.
it is an SAE 75W/80W API GL-4 go to
www.redlineoil.com for more info
Redline MTL..?
Is that an ordinary transmission oil type API GL4 or is it an type Dextron III oil (which is used in automatic gearboxes)?
Redline MTL is the replacement of choice here in the US ,dont know if you can get it there in sweden. it will make the box much nicer to shift especially when cold
What kind of gearbox oil shall I put in to my gearbox?
I have plans to exchange the oil and I want to know what kind of oil that is specified for my gearbox (Getrag 265/5).
My car is a M3 -90 (215hk).
Best regards, Sonny
