...your favorite auto parts stores...it`s a fairly common brand. Even Wal Mart has carried the brand, although never a great selection. The correct one is rated 20 psi. Cost is about $3.50. It is an ugly octagonal thing, but it worked until I was able to replace the tank.

The plastic lip will distort over time, preventing the cap from sealing. Your symptoms are consistent with the failure of either part. It is normal for the temperature to rise after shutoff, increasing the coolant pressure. I found that a Stant cap would seal on my old distorted tank when a new BMW cap wouldn`t.
