I have seen those pics too. I think they were of an older model Stromung though. They definitely changed within the last year or two. For one thing, they stopped making a non-stainless muffler for the E30 M3.

If your muffler is anything like mine, there's no way you'll get the pipes that far in without cutting the center section, whether it's OEM, Supersprint, or DEC...I've tried them all.

The Stromung is not really longer than the stock muffler...maybe just a cm. I think the real problem is the Supersprint unit.

The other reason those other Stromung pics might have looked like that might be because it was on a car where the center section was originally welded to the muffler and they cut it too far forward. I heard that the exhaust was this way on some M3s (early ones?).

I know I've seen some where the pipes are almost flush with the cutout and barely stick out...
