In Reply to: Where can I get 17mm allen socket for trans? posted by Chris F. on April 19, 2002 at 15:45:19:

Call around. It's that same size as something for old VWs...maybe also the I found a couple of local stores that carried them. I'm not sure about the 14mm.

Oh, the other place to try would be a specialty fastener store. Try searching the yahoo yellow pages in your area for something with "fastener" or "bolt" in the title. Those stores often have odd-sized tools, e.g. 3" sockets, etc.

I'm in need of a 17mm allen socket for the transmission fill and drain plugs. Any idea where I can get one a little cheaper than the >$30 piece from Snap-on?

I also need a 14mm for the diff oil on an e36.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Chris F.
