The SS Euro Resonator + Stromung is very loud, much louder than the Euro Resonator + SS (normal mild steel version) exhaust I ran on the car for a while.
Strangly, the Stromung is actually very quiet with the stock cat. I think it's "resonating" with the frequency produced by the Euro Resonator, creating the loud drone sound. It sounds really nice, just a bit too loud. Man, does it sound nice with high revs at WOT.. Probably the best sounding combo IMHO. Just a bit loud.
I'll be in the austin area much during the summer. Is there a chance of having another Austin BBQ event like last year? Also, I believe you were there with Chris W. at the Sub place that rainy day (in the parking garage)? You might have heard the exhaust there (I have the silver M3).
I had the non-cat version on there for a while. It was pretty loud...probably about as loud as a B&B muffler with cats and maybe a little louder than that at high rpms. I actually got pulled over and hassled about it by the local Constabulary.
Ritter has it on his car now with the Borla and it is considerably quieter than with the Stromung. I guess it's just a matter of matching frequencies.
I'd like to hear your setup as I've been considering it myself. Let me know if you are ever in Austin.
There are two versions of the new stainless center section. You can get it with our without cats. Which one do you have? Also, how loud is it with your stromung? I am running the SS euro resonator w/ stainless stromung (like yours), and it is a bit loud. I'm wondering how yours sounds without the center resonator..
I've had the DEC unit and the Supersprint racing center section (stainless - no resonator).
The DEC cat fit perfectly, just like the factory unit.
The Supersprint was a little too long and I had to cut about 1/2" off the ends of the pipes. This may have been a prototype unit of some sort though because it was purchased in Mexico quite some time before it was available through BMP.
The top-end power gains and "revability" with the Supersprint unit, vs. the DEC or factory cats, was quite noticable.
This is all with OEM and Stromung mufflers. The Borla unit is similar. I've also heard the SS/Borla and OEM/Borla combinations. The SS/Borla is pretty loud but not too bad.
Has anyone use these combination ? How was the fitting?
I know the Supersprint center section is not street legal.
