Starting with a 1988 E30 325e which was our main travel vehicle (very good by the way), unfortunately an automatic! and after watching the E30 M3 market for a couple of years I decided to take the plunge, maybe (my wife is still undecided). But we live 8 hours drive (at 90kph/55mph ) from the nearest major center Toronto, that could possibly have E30 M3's for sale. We could save 20 to 30% by purchasing a 325is but it's NOT an M3 so those primal urges would still not be satisfied! Dear I would like to purchase a E30 M3? Your crazy the cars are approx. 14 years old! But honey they are a good deal/investment! (ultimate driving machine) Thirteen year old son their ugly the E34 (BMW model years) is much better! I don't like those pointy fronts, looks like a Ford Focus! (just kidding, no insult intended) Febuary LOOK DEAR (autotrader) a 1987 Euro Spec Blue in colour, mint in condition 125,000 km for sale in TO. Her resistant seemed light (I tell her I can always sell it "HA HA") so I call, and I call and I call NO answering machine just a nice sounding mother at the other end "Sorry he's not home"(Thursday)!! Within about 12 hours the car was sold! (who bought it????) Panic begins to set in. There is another one for sale looks good but not as good. Remember I'm 8 hours away by car (on the internet/telephone) the chance of me seeing the car or having it inspected BEFORE it is sold are nil! In fact I have never seen an E30-M3, let alone sat in one, recently in Florida we did see a parked E36 M3 (nice machine) Friday more Panic, More Indecision (up north = cabin fever )!!!, Saturday the wife/son go to the Mall I buy the car!!!! She says what would you do if I spent $$,$$$ while you were at the mall!! Well dear you already have everything you want, i.e. a house, furniture and a kid. (be careful what you wish for) She didn't quite see the logic it that argument but women and families do cost extra. Now what! it is still Feb. and we get a 130cm more snow in March (infact it's snowing now, April 25,2002) I can't pick up the car!!! Who wants to drive an M3 with performance tires for eight hours through two lane snow/ice covered highways! Not me, I wait and wait and wait! (Blizard outside right now) Being crazy in the spring and a bit bored I take an informal survey re am I crazy to buy an as yet unseen M3. People are mixed, few really understand and my wife does not know how much I paid. My first attempt at picking up the car was March 22, but the huge snow fall closed the highways! As luck would have we were scheduled for a Nelly Furtado concert in TO on April 20, hopefully no snow. (we use salt on our highways my new M3 has not been winter driven) . Sat I drop by the dealers to FINALLY pick up my car and there is no ownership transfer or plates (government strike 2 months now) good thing I stole some plates off our other BMW. (my son who's 12 owns a 2001 VW Beetle) The car looks good! Perfect no! In M3 condition no! but none the less very good! (completely stock) A quick inspection and some BSing with the dealer I had to leave for Guelph to look at Birds (cockatoo) How do you drive this thing!!!! It's not a Toyota! I quickly pull into a residential newbourhood to figure out what I'm doing and then onto the 401. (you think NYC and LA are busy) THE CAR IS WONDERFUL TO DRIVE! That sophisticated sounding scream of the engine is PALPITATING LY Nice. How do you drive 50-60 KPH I feel stopped. Sunday head back to the great white North alone YES (Son went with wife to look at more birds) The car attracks butt ugly looking FLYS! Everywhere you look things pull up beside, behind, In front? These ugly flys have names like Honda, Ford, Toyota, Subaru etc with ugly appendages sticking out their arse's. Are these flys around in other places? Anyhow I make it home safely with no speeding tickets. (1 cop per 150 miles) 3 days later my wife wants to go for a ride, she had never been in the car yet, do you think she will ever want to drive it? I'm worried! I hope you have enjoyed my story I must go back to work soon.
P.s. The car is not perfect I will be looking for some advice/help/parts I only hope that down the road I can begin to over some!
P.P.S. 1st serious question, the windshield has a line on the passengers side (semi circle wiper blade mark/scratch) tired window cleaner How can this be removed? Also a small crack in windshield behind rearview mirror can it be repaired?
So what year is the Car you boyght? what are the kms? color?
