The bypass guards against over pressure in the heater, including the heater valve. On the engine side of the firewall, the bypass is inserted between the two heater hoses. A catastrophic failure of the heater valve will dump a lot of hot coolant on the driver`s right foot. That`s the reason for the recall.

I have a leaking heater valve on a line that goes into the heater core box on the driver's side, interior. Does any one know if this is the "recall". the part has an electrical connection as well. Also, any replacement/install tips. TIA
