...cuz "stock" is a moving target. In the 80s many cars still used carburetors. The M3s engine management is early 80s tech. Nowadays no cars use the restrictive AFM approach the M3 uses. You can delete the AFM and gain oompth and response at all revs and throttle positions for example. If you do some modding and updating you can dramatically improve an M3s performance. On the roll a WRX is not as fast as you might think, stock. But they launch super well. Check out their medicocre trap speed compared to their elapsed time in the 1/4 mile.
