Because of expected high demand.... If you really want one of these, wait a year until the craze dies down and buy a used one with 3000 miles on it for a $5k less than new. Once the fad is over and the next new thing comes out, the rich "me first" crowd won't be able to get rid of them fast enough to make room in the garage for their new toy.

Got my Cooper for MSRP.

Ordered a S for the same.

I don't think a 3000 mi car will be worth $5K less. Right now I can sell mine for $5K more than I payed (If you could pry it from me). Even in a year (especially here in the NW where there are easily more than 1000 people waiting on lists) I imagine a used mini will sell for $1-2K less than new.

I myself have been waiting for over 2 years for one..... and it's a much better car than I imagined!
