Oil types are a personal choice. I use Mobil 1 Racing 15/50, and always use the BMW filter. Don't ponce around with these cheapo filters it is false economy. If you change your oil on a regular basis as you should if you do track days, then good mineral oil I think would be fine if you want to reduce your costs a little. (valvoline racing comes to mind)
