DTM stands for Deutche Tourenwagen Meistershaft, or German Touring Car Championship.
The M3 was built specifically so that BMW could race it in this championship. The final DTM cars were all 2.5's and made about 320bhp. I think all of the pukka race shells were built by a German company called Matter. Then the shells were shipped to the various tuning companys (Schnitzer, Cibeeme etc) were they were built up into full blown race cars. There are a lot of pseudo DTM cars kicking around that have the same spec as the real DTM cars but the giveaway is that they don't have a Matter shell number, as Matter numbered all the cars they built.
I hope this gives you an insight.
Roops.
I own a euro M635csi and an E30 M3. I recently heard or saw something about DTM cars. What is it or are they. Thanks in advance.
