thats why they make special tools ,so one does not beat the hell out of the part being installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the tool threads onto the half-shaft threads and pulls it into the hub. but hey beat away then you can buy the tool and a new half-shaft and bmw will make more $$$

Any idea on how you get the axle shafts (half-shafts) into the hub assembly? It is a tight fit, and I am not sure how much abuse the axles can withstand. We tried hitting the differential end with a rubber mallet, but that only got it in about half-way. It also flattened the inside end, which I hope is not a problem :-)
