Double (actually triple!) check that you are using the right pins! And make sure your car is in neutral, and that the key is NOT in the ignition!!

do you have a diagramm of the diagnose socket?

1. Used film cannister
2. Momentary pushbutton switch
3. Lamp wire
4. Banana plugs/wire end connectors
5. Soldering tool and solder

Get #1 from home or a camera shop, #'s 2-6 from Radio shack. Just cut a hole in the cap of the cannister and screw in the switch, then solder the lamp wire to the switch, drill a hole in the bottom of the cannister, and run the wire through the hole. Attach the plug ends and you are done. If you want to be thorough about it, glue the cap shut.

One thing you should not do is put any kind of resistor in line, as the amount of current needed to go through the wire is pretty hefty (NOT like when doing a service light reset). As such, make sure you jump the right pins when you use the tool.

I use mine all the time for adjusting valves, testing compression, etc.

Good luck!
