I use Redline 20W50 with a CM Oil Filter. Redline is a synthetic oil that cost around $7 per quart but will last you 10,000 miles between oil changes. The CM Oil Filters have an aluminum canister with a filter element you change out instead of the entire filter in traditional oil filters. Just slip a new filter element into the aluminum housing and you're set to go. These filters are made for synthetic oils and you change them out every 10,000 mile also. I've been using this combo since I bought my M3 in 1988 and I've got 210,000 miles on it and the car runs great!

CM Filters: www.cantonracing.com

Hope this helps!
