Lots of soft brass brushes, wooden scraping tools (chopsticks work great), dentist's picks, and about a week of spare time will produce this result. Any solvent strong enough to remove cosmoline will dissolve lots of other stuff in your engine bay as well. There is no easy way. Good luck.
