In my local dealership they have a note on the wall saying that if you want M parts you have to supply proof of ownership. I have never been asked, but all the parts I normally buy are mechanically related not cosmetic, which is were I think they are aiming there announcement.

Also, why do Cecotto's etc. turn up without the plaques. That would really hack me off if it was my car. I mean, what use is it to anyone else. If you remove your plaque and then lose it/attach it to another car/stick it on your wall, in my opinion you should be shot.......Harsh, but fair...

I understand that to even buy one of the plaques, you must present proof of ownership of a special edition model. Makes perfect sense to me. If only they'd require ///M ownership verification here in the US to buy an ///M badge ;^)
