If i were you i would treat any bare metal by painting it with waxoil, that will stop any moisture causing damage to metal. It will look ugly but it may prevent rust getting started, when you can get it repaired the waxoil will come off with thinners or petrol.

Scraped against a Post in the car park today and have a nasty scrape down my Rear passenger wheel arch. It goes deep and I wanted to know the best way to treat it, so that it doesn't go rusty on me. I can't afford to have it sprayed properley at the momment, as I spent 450 getting the other arch and the front end stone chips done :o(

Its a 89 325i Sport
