i have imported 3 cars now , two from Holland whicj were VW's and my latest an E30 M3 convertible. I located this on WWW.Mobile.DE loads of E30's here. It does help if you can or know someone that speaks some German as most of the time when you call they won't entertain English spoken enquiries. There are two ways to import it. 1st is if you have or can borrow trade plates 2nd you can purchase import plates which are fairly easy to get and they also include insurance. The adds on MOBILE.DE are mostly dealers which are easier to work with and they can arrange import plates for you. i use P&O ferries at Europort Rotterdam to travel home as its easy and fairly inexpensive. Here's my E-mail if you have any questions i can help you with.
