Yes the car will need a new tranny. Eventually, the grinding will get worse and worse and the tranny will go. Usually you first spot this time of grinding when you are doing heel toe downshifts when racing.

P.S. I used to own another sports car that used a 6 speed Getrag, and the transmission was not rebuildable, so I'm assuming it's the same situation here.
